Coach Melissa’s Health Journey

 

In 2000, I was feeling tired and overweight. I desired to be a healthy, strong wife and mother. I hired a trainer to learn how to exercise and eat healthy. My trainer designed a program of strength, core, cardio along with a low glycemic index diet.

I lost over 25 lbs. and maintain it to this day. This experience inspired me to become a fitness professional to help others live a more active, healthier lifestyle.

Cheryl Williams

Cheryl Williams

Age 71, Cheryl has been attending the FBF classes since 2016 and has been a FBF lady on YouTube since 2020. Her exercise form, energy and how she tackles each challenge positively is an inspiration. Her confidence and strength shine from within. She has been a true blessing and encouragement to me and has helped develop this program from the start.

Cheryl enjoys living the Florida active vibrant lifestyle. The activities she is passionate about in addition to working out are- swimming, hiking, reading, good food, traveling and having lots of fun with her large family and friends. She loved her dog Annabelle who just passed, but looks forward to a new chapter of life that might include adding a cat to her family.

In her own words - "Coach Melissa’s program has helped me in so many ways. I will do anything to not miss a class, because after each one I feel awesome!” I appreciate the personal attention and correction exercises which have made my strength, flexibility and joint pain much better after having knee replacement surgery years ago. I have also seen a noticeable difference in my core, balance and posture. Recent medical tests show a big increase in my bone density! Most importantly, I have plenty of energy which I feel contributes to my overall good health. The Brew & Move exercises have helped my mobility and given me the ability to live an active lifestyle and run after my grandchildren. I don’t know what it is supposed to feel like to be 71, I don’t feel like I’m limited to doing anything!"

Pam Fields

Pam Fields

Pam, age 78, has been an active FBF class participant for 7 years and a FBF lady on YouTube since 2020. She may be the oldest member of the group but her energy and zeal for getting in a good workout along with her fitness level say otherwise. Age is just a number. Her friend questioned her just the other day- How do you get around like you do? Pam credits her consistency with this exercise program and her daily walks with her dog to her health and mobility success.

Pam also lives a very vibrant, active life. You might see her at the park in the morning doing her favorite activity of long walks with her dog Shamus. She has a passion for all animals and in her down time she loves relaxing and reading books.

In her own words- "I have many wonderful long term results and benefits. One big one is that I used to have Osteopenia for many years and now I don’t have it anymore! My doctor said “Whatever you're doing with this exercise, keep doing it!” My balance, strength and mobility are great and I have no problems with aches or pains! That is success in my book."

Denise Boccia

Denise Boccia

Age 67, Denise has been attending FBF classes since 2017 and became our newest FBF lady in 2023. In addition to physical fitness she loves mind fitness, like playing trivia with friends and doing crossword puzzles. She meditates to relax and also dabbles in some arts and crafts. Her newest hobby is cross-stitching. But her favorite thing to do is dancing with her husband.

Denise is full of enthusiasm and energy. She is always up for a new challenge in her workouts and gives her all at every class. She is a great addition to the FBF team!

In her own words- "I have been attending Melissa’s exercise classes for over 7 years. In that time, my posture, body alignment, muscle tone, shape and overall strength have vastly improved. The core strengthening workouts concentrate on balance that is very important to keep me strong and reduce my fall risk. I’m strong enough to lift 40 lb. cat litter bags and water bottle cases all by myself. After each class I feel accomplished and proud of what have done to help my body. This program makes it easy to age gracefully."
