I want to share my during the week healthy dessert ideas. In 1999, I cleaned up my diet to follow a low sugar Glycemic Index, low carb diet. I lost 21 lbs. and kept it off for over 20 years. There is one problem, I have a big sweet tooth! These are my top three desserts tips that help keep the weight off without feeling like I’m missing out.
Berry Good Whip Bowl
Berry healthy dessert idea alert! Undoubtedly, it is a challenge to find a healthy dessert that is also delicious. This berry whip dessert is one of my weekly go to’s for this reason.
What makes this a healthy dessert idea? First and foremost, it is under 175 calories. In addition it is keto low carb diet friendly, low in sugar as well as fights inflammation with loads of antioxidants.
Non-dairy coconut whip cream or real whip cream
1/4 cup each of blueberries, raspberries and strawberries
1 Tbsp. nuts and shredded coconut
DIRECTIONS: In a small bowl, put a small amount of whip cream at the bottom, add the berries, nuts and shredded coconut. Top with whip cream and sprinkle cinnamon. Whalla super easy healthy dessert!
Dark Chocolate Squares
When I get the sweet tooth urge, I love a few pieces of quality dark chocolate. Lindt Intense Orange flavor is my favorite. A little goes a long way in satisfaction. I have 2 squares which is a half of a serving. Four squares is 190 calories. Chocolate has many health benefits including antioxidants.
Saturday Night Treat
Saturday night is where I allow myself a full strength real deal dessert! Definitely mini is best, like me! Small desserts like the mini red velvet cupcakes from Fresh Market are amazing. When I’m out to dinner sharing is the best idea, it is good to share, especially when it comes to calories!
